Our Pastors

Dave Peterson

Transitional Interim Pastor

Dave and Carol have just completed 10 years of Transitional Interim Lead Pastor Ministry assignments at: Snowdon Baptist Church in Montreal, Memorial Baptist Church in Stratford, and Eastwood Baptist Church in St. Thomas. They are excited to now be a part of the Grand River Church community. He is passionate about assisting and mentoring churches in spiritual, organizational, and relational health.

Prior to their ministry assignment in Montreal, Dave was on staff as Pastor of Congregational Care & Community Life at Calvary Baptist Church in Guelph for 6 1/2 years. His responsibilities at Calvary included administrating Life Groups, Assimilation and Integration of Newcomers, Congregational Care (including overseeing the duties of the church’s Faith Community Nurse), and Shepherding Ministries. He was also heavily involved with mentoring and discipling several men on a regular basis, something that is dear to his heart.

Prior to going on staff at Calvary in Guelph, Dave was in the Christian Bookselling industry for almost 23 years.  He has also had church ministry assignments at West Park Baptist in London, ON and South Delta Baptist Church in Delta, B.C. (Pastor of Student Ministries), and at Crossfield Baptist Church near Calgary (Lead Pastor).

Dave and Carol have three children and five grandchildren. Chris (Lexi) and Andrew (Katie) live in Guelph, and Nathan lives in Los Angeles. Dave & Carol celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in June of this year.

Dave loves sports and is passionate about his Michigan Wolverines, Detroit Lions, Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Tigers, but not so much the Detroit Pistons. Sorry Pistons! He loves books and is always reading the newest and best resources on spiritual leadership and leadership in general.

Carol has never run across a piece of chocolate that she didn’t like! She is all things chocolate, and her eyes dance for joy when she is involved with and ministering to children!

Jamie Hauer

Associate and Youth

Before coming to Grand River Community Church (GRCC), I attended Word of Life Bible Institute, where I completed a Certificate in Biblical Studies. After that, I went on to Heritage College and Seminary and by God’s providence, I began an internship at GRCC in the summer of 2014. By the end, I graduated with a Bachelor of Theology and by the grace of God (truly), the church decided to hire me after the internship was over.

I married the greatest woman alive in 2012 and Amy hasn’t regretted it yet (that I know of). We have 4 kids; Theodore, Eloise, Phoebe and Linus. I grew up close to Sauble Beach, where my own youth pastor had a great impact on my life and faith. I want nothing more than to be used by God to do something similar in the lives of students here. Besides a passion for discipleship and teaching, I love sports, music, spoken word, and apologetics.
